In order to strengthen daily communication and liaison, coordinate member resources, brand cultivation, activation of win-win market, in accordance with the “daily communication, ten-days live class, monthly promotion, quarterly interaction, annual conference” work mechanism, the WRTC Regional (Branch) Secretary General has the following six major duties.

Firstly, the regional secretary general is to assist the work of the regional chairman. Assist the regional chairman (sub-president) to deal with the regional (branch) daily affairs and understand the regional (branch) member service needs and help members to solve difficulties.

Secondly, the regional secretary general is to help with the daily liaison of the region and make good use of the member resources, to assist the regional chairman (sub-president) and the WRTC Secretariat, through e-mail (international), WeChat (domestic), telephone and other forms, and maintain regular contact with the region (branch) members, and report to the WRTC secretariat every quarter about the region (branch) and members, and especially work as an information hub to keep every member well-informed.

Thirdly, the regional secretary general is to arrange the regional meetings and activities. Use the exhibition resources, assist the regional chairman (sub-president) and the WRTC Secretariat, help members participate in rural tourism school biweekly live classes and other online and offline series of activities; in particular, in tandem with the WRTC secretariat, help organize and coordinate members before quarterly member business work interaction meeting, the annual World Rural Tourism Sustainable Development Forum (or trade fair) and the WRTC plenary sessions and the biennial WRTC.

Fourth, with the brand resources, the regional secretary general is to help the regional chairman and WRTC secretariat to carry out the biennial World Rural Tourism “Oscar” - the Rural Light (World Rural Tourism RL Cup) and the WRTC  “Gold Medal City”, “Model City”, “Excellent City” three series of brand city selection work.

Fifth, the regional secretary general is to make good use of the market resources, and help the regional chairman (sub-president) and the WRTC Secretariat, linking the regional (branch) members for product packaging and promotion; at the same time, to help the regional (branch) members to participate in various exhibitions, market cooperation.

Sixth, the regional secretary general is to participate in quarterly meeting for secretaries general, providing good experience and practices for members to exchange, and propose suggestions for the development of world rural tourism.

Based on the above work, the secretariat will select the "Top 10 Secretaries General" in each region of the world and each branch in China every year, and award them with certificates and certain bonus, so as to activate the regular and high-quality mechanism of the WRTC members.
